"Scotland"
(by
Sugihara)
What is Scotland?
Scotland is located just north of England, has one third of
land area of Britain. And though heavily accented, Scottish
people speak English. That counts here in ESS.
Scotland is a completely different entity from England, but
it has been united to form United Kingdom since the Act of Union
in 1707. Scots has been strongly influenced by powerful southern
neighbour throughout its history, and yet Scotland retains its
unique character.
Scotland as a small entity has produced amazing talents like
James Watt(Industrial Revolution), Adam Smith(capitalism), to
name a few. Scotland harbours interesting creatures such as
Nessie and "Dolly the sheep". And it has been producing
the world famous Scotch Single Malt Whisky.
In practice, I list topics closely or scarcely related to
Scotland, and it's up to your group what to talk. Even if you
know nothing about Scotland, there must be a lot you can talk, so
don't worry.
With a drop of Scotch in your accent, your English may become
truely universal.
Maybe not ^^;;;
slainte!(cheers in Scottish Gaelic, same spelling as Irish
Gaelic)
