Discussion on the phrases quoted from famous scientists.
Many distinguished scientists, politicians and novelists are also great philosophers. They have left to us a lot of interesting, impressive, instructive and sometimes puzzling phrases. Their sayings are usually short and deeply sighted so that people often quote their words for intellectual stimulation.
In the following, more than several sayings quoted from those people are listed. The phrases may not be well-known but suggestive ones. Today’s practice shall flow as follows.
1. I would like you to read these sayings quickly and carefully (10 min). Hopefully, you are encouraged to read them in advance before this Saturday.
2. Pick up one phrase which you like most and explain, in any word, what the person wants to tell you in his/her message (< 3 min).
3. After finishing your presentation, start the group discussion on that quoted phrase from different points of view, I hope (< 7 min).
4. Analogous presentation-discussion shall be repeated by each of the group members on different phrases (total time: (3 + 7) x 4 person < 40 min).
Repeat this process till the end. You sure will be a highly sophisticated person and make your own witty “quote -- unquote”. Enjoy!
