This is an outline for the practice on Nov. 29
1. Genre: Reading and Discussion
2. Title:” The World’s Oldest First Grader”
One reading material entitled “The World’s Oldest First Grader”
shall be given to all the participants.
3. Procedures:
Part1: Reading (20 minutes)
(1) Let’s divide the whole members into five or six groups.
(2) Let’s read a passage while listening to the model reading of CD.
(3) Let’s try a shadowing of the same passage
(4) One person representing each group reads one paragraph aloud.
Part2: Group discussion based on the reading (40 minutes)
(1) Discussion questions (25 minutes)
㈰ What do you think about the life of Maruge, the world’s oldest first grader?
㈪ What do you think each of these sayings means? Are there similar sayings in Japanese?
a. You’re never too old to learn.
b. You can’t teach an old dog new tricks.
㈫ Which one do you agree with the most? (generally)
㈬ Which one do you agree with the most? (if you focus on English learning)
(2) One person representing each group presents the summary of the group discussion
to the whole members.
