What's New at Kyoto NHK ESS?

Military intervention against ISLI, Israel - Gaza Conflict and Syrian Civil War… Wars are happening right now! Africa, which occupies only 15% of the world population, is starving. Every one child out of nine loses their lives before getting 5 years old in sub-Saharan area. Perspective on realizing summit conference between two political leaders of Japan and Korea has been in a fog due to uncompromising issues on recognition of history and territorial opinion about Take-Shima or Dokudo. We are surrounded with full of sadness, danger, fear, hunger and risks.

June 13 practice encourages us to discuss a big item. “Can all the people on earth live in peace sometime in future?”

1. Make a few groups for discussion.
2. Choose one person from group members as chairman for the discussion.
3. Exchange variety of opinion on the agenda.
4. Conclude “YES” or “NO” consensus to the question of “Can all the people live in peace sometime in future?”
5. The chairman from each group shares the group consensus with other Kyoto ESS members.

I hope to see all the members participating in the discussion actively at the practice on June 13.

Have you ever been in charge of staff in Kyoto NHK-ESS? Do you want to try it? Let’s talk and discuss about that.

Make some groups which consist of previous leader, previous staffs and unexperienced people.

I will give one sheet to each table. Please write down your name on the suitable line.

Please introduce your job briefly when you were staff.
Question for unexperienced persons: Which role will you choose if you are in charge of staff? Why?
Question for present staffs: Which role will you choose if you are in charge of staff again? Why?

Please talk about impressive events and good memories when you were staff.

Some staffs became burnout syndrome(燃え尽き症候群). They had been so active. How do you prevent this situation? Please discuss about that.

It has been rainy and humid....
Why don't we refresh ourselves by using the different part of our brain?

Genre： game
Title： make a story

〈 procedure 〉
1. Make some groups of 5 or 6 people.

2. Picture cards, distributed to each group. Shuffle the cards, and put them turned back.

3. The first participant picks a card, then start making a two-minute story containing the word on the card.

4. The second picks another card to continue making a story followed by the previous one.
The rest follow in the same way.

The entire story must be a narrative making a kind of sense.

5. Each group presents it's own story to everyone.

Let's have fun to make a funny and touching（if possible !）story with our full imagination.

Let me announce the practice on July 4.

Genre: Talk
Title：Self-review on the first half year in 2015.
It has been half a year since you made New Year's resolution at the beginning of this year. Have you gone smoothly along with your resolution?

Let's try to self-review your activities on the first half year in 2015, recalling your New Year's resolution.

Steps of the practice
1. After making several groups with even numbers of members, you are going to pair with partners.

2. One tells another your New Year’s resolution and self-review of the first half year. One also tell whether he/she can keep his/her resolution or not, and, how to go through on the next half year. After finishing one's talk, change the role of the pair.

3. Each of a pair presents his /her partner's talking to the group members.

Genre: Creation

Title: Let’s make a story and fill in the blank phrases in comic strip.

Methods:

① Make several groups so that each group has six members.

② Each of group members chooses the comic sheets
(from first to fourth frame).

③ Make a story and fill in the blank phrases
(in ten minutes).

④ Each member presents his/her story( three minutes for each).

⑤ Once the process is finished, shuffle the comic sheets and repeat.

⑥ Finally, let’s draw your original comic.

Sorry, my practice looks like Murase-san’s a little by accident.

As I have made the comic sheets, I cannot change the practice contents. I ask your pardon.
