[Talk] "Food For Thought" (Yasuoka)

Talking of foods is interesting.

gDo you like Japanese food?h
This is a question we have easily asked of visiting foreigners.
According to a linguistic scholar, this topic of main concern to the Japanese inquirer is to see how much he really appreciates Japanese culture.
Consciously or unconsciously, we know there is nothing better way of testing him than by asking him how he likes Japanese foods and whether he can be in our side or not.

How about asking the same question of you?
gDo you like Japanese foods?h or gWhat kind of Japanese or non-Japanese foods do you like?h, gCan you cook?h, gSo whatfs your favorite recipe?h
This time, what do those questions come up as in the context of Japanese society?

Talking of foods is playing a social role in knowing others.
Maybe, my taste is different from yours.
Don't worry.
We can say, gTherefs no accounting for tastes.h
However, we come to realize the fact that our different tastes are deeply ingrained into our life experience or memories.
Yes, they are part of our self-identity!

I hope you to prepare your interesting food topics and recipes for this practice.
